ABOUT ABOUT

Sax on the River presents Jazz on the Vine, October 15, 2016

Featuring Vincent Ingala, Phil Denny, Adam Hawley and Daryl Black

This event was created by Trisha Friend to promote breast cancer awareness and to give back to non-profit organizations that have similar goals and purpose. Also, to share her love of contemporary jazz, particularly the saxophone, with all her friends and fellow jazz lovers in the Sacramento area.  The event takes place in October which is breast cancer awareness month.  This year’s event is at McConnell Estates Winery in Elk Grove.. Please check the website www.saxontheriver.com for more details.

In 2016 Sax on the River is donating 100% of the proceeds to the Karla J. Williams Foundation and Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley.

This year our musical guests include Vincent Ingala, Phil Denny, Adam Hawley & Daryl Black.

Vincent Ingala, one of the fastest emerging contemporary jazz recording artists in recent history, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, has blasted into an exciting stratosphere of his own making since his 2010 critically acclaimed debut album, North End Soul.  Still in his early twenties, the charismatic saxophonist has been named Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year in 2012, and Sirius XM Watercolors Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2013.  As much of an entertainer as he is a musician, Vincent has been wowing live audiences as a regular on the popular smooth jazz festival and cruise circuit for several years. His fun-loving stage presence, combined with an obvious passion for playing, elevates the crowd to an exciting frenzy.

Phil Denny is joining us from Lansing Michigan. Impressive artistry, presence and passion combined with a unique ability to connect with people on and off the stage have earned Denny a resume of notable achievements in just a short time and give reason to play on. Some might describe him as a people’s musician having developed a very active and loyal fan base even before the release of his internationally recognized 2012 debut, Crossover; an album which earned him three Billboard charted hits.

Adam Hawley, currently a resident of Los Angeles, started his music career in the Portland Metro Area of Oregon before moving to Southern California in 2002. He has performed and/or recorded in a myriad of settings with such artists as Jennifer Lopez, The Backstreet Boys, Joss Stone, Natalie Cole, Dave Koz, Lalah Hathaway, Ruben Studdard, and Sheila E just to name a few. He will also be serving as our music director for this event.

Daryl Black, As seen on Fox’s Hit TV Show The "X FACTOR", from the first moment you hear Daryl you know that music is what he was made to do. The judges, Demi Lovato, LA Reid, Britney Spears, and Simon Cowell were astounded by his stage presence and smooth vocal tone.  Daryl Black is a pianist/guitarist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, producer and an accomplished performer that is intentional about connecting with the world through music.  He has traveled the world and worked with artists like Stevie Wonder, En Vogue, Kirk Franklin, R. Kelley, Fred Hammond, Prince, Monica, and many more.
